Connect Notion from /connections/notion_mcp when you want workspace knowledge available in aura. This guide covers the MCP OAuth flow, what success looks like after setup, and how to handle token renewal or reconnects when the connector needs attention.

Connect Notion

Notion uses an MCP OAuth flow rather than the standard social sign-in used by Microsoft and Google.

  1. Open the Notion card from Connections.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Let aura start the Notion authorization flow.
  4. Approve access in Notion.
  5. Return to aura.

If the flow succeeds, the Notion connector becomes available for chat and search use.

Verify the connection

The Notion connector page includes a settings view with token status details.

After setup, you should expect:

  • the Notion card on Connections to show Ready
  • the connector page to show Connected
  • an expiry value to appear for the token
  • Notion-backed context to become available in Home and Search

Understand the current status model

Notion is marked as experimental beta in the app. The connector may still work well for normal use, but the docs should reflect a more cautious setup path.

The connector can be in one of these practical states:

  • Connected: the token exists and the connector is available
  • token expired: the token exists but needs attention
  • Not connected: the OAuth flow has not been completed yet

Renew the token when possible

If the token is expired and the page offers Renew token, use that first.

That is the right path when:

  • the connector is still present
  • the page shows an expired token
  • a refresh token is available

After renewing, recheck the page and confirm the connector is healthy again.

Reconnect when renewal is not enough

Reconnect Notion when the token cannot be renewed or the connector is no longer usable.

Use this recovery path:

  1. Open the Notion connector page from Connections.
  2. Disconnect if the old connection is still present.
  3. Click Connect again.
  4. Complete the Notion authorization flow again.
  5. Return to Connections and confirm the card is back to Ready.

Use Notion after setup

Once Notion is ready, return to Home when you want workspace context in chat, or move to Search when you want direct lookup across connected sources.

This connector is a good fit for:

  • finding a page related to your current task
  • asking for a summary of workspace knowledge
  • using Notion context while drafting or planning in chat

Good to know

Notion connection state is more explicit than the simple OAuth connectors. If you are unsure whether to renew or reconnect, prefer renewal when the button is available and reconnect only when the token can no longer be recovered.
